As a proud partner of NLMK Clabecq, we supply our customers with the highest quality abrasion-resistant wear plate and extra high strength steel products: Quard® and Quend®.

Quard®

Abrasion-Resistant Steel/Wear Plate

Quard® abrasion-resistant steel plates from NLMK Clabecq withstands intensive wear in many different applications. This unique wear plate features superior workability throughout all stages of the manufacturing process, and its mechanical properties allow for cutting, forming and welding with ease. Working with Quard® steel is quick, efficient and reliable.

Applications

  • Mining and earthmoving equipment
  • Crushing and pulverizing equipment
  • Buckets, knives, crushers, feeders
  • Presses
  • Skips
  • Excavators

Advantages of Quard®

High Hardness

The precise water quenching and production process ensures consistent
hardness levels and 100% martensitic microstructure throughout the plate.

Light Weight

Quard® provides a higher strength product with a thinner plate, allowing you to reduce the weight of your structure by up to 40%.

Superior Flatness

The flatness of Quard® wear plate allows for improved handling and workshop processing of plates, lower residual stresses in the plate, and more accurate design.

Increased Productivity

Lighter design implementation, easier tool preparation, and shorter manufacturing time for the finished product.

Quend®

High Strength Steel

Quend® extra-high strength structural steel is designed to reduce the weight of lifting equipment while withstanding high loads. Quend is made from slabs with a high degree of purity, features excellent flatness, superior surface aspect and tight thickness tolerance. When primed, the plate comes with a thin film of low zinc silicate the protects against corrosion, promotes weldability, and is optimized for laser cutting.

Applications

  • Trucks chassis
  • Lifting and hoisting equipment
  • Handling equipment
  • Trailers

Advantages of Quend®

High Impact Toughness

Quend® has a minimum impact tougness of 27 J, guaranteeing no cracks or breaks in the steel at -40 degree weather.

Primed Exterior

Quend® is primed to protect against corrosion and rust.

ASTM A514 Certified

Quend® meets both North American and European steel quality standards.

MILD STEEL

Company logo for NLMK Clabecq
Company logo for Structural Wear Products

We offer a variety of mild steel products that meet the specifications of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) or Canadian Standards Associations (CSA).

Mill testing reports are available with every order upon request.

ASTM – A572-50

ASTM – A572-50 is the standard for high-strength, low alloy structural steel plate. Intended for riveted, bolted and welded structures, less material and maintenance is needed due to the high-strength and corrosion resistant nature of the plate.

Specifications

  • Yield Strength – 50,000 psi
  • Tensile Strength – 65,000 psi
  • Elongation (200 mm) – 18%

ASTM – A36

ASTM – A36 is commonly used mild and hot-rolled steel plate has excellent mechanical properties. This steel is popular for its low carbon content, making it ideal for welding, drilling, forming, cutting and machining.

Specifications

  • Yield Strength – 36,300 psi
  • Tensile Strength – 58,000-79,800 psi
  • Elongation (200 mm) – 20%

CSA – G420.21 44W/300W

44W mild steel plate (or its metric equivalent 300W) is highly weldable and is commonly used for general fabrication and construction.

Specifications

  • Yield Strength – 44,000 psi
  • Tensile Strength – 70,000-90,000 psi
  • Elongation – 20% min (8”), 23% min (2”)

CCO

cHROMIUM CARBIDE OVERLAY

Our high-quality line of Chromium Carbide Overlay contains less stress cracks than seen in a lot of CC on the market. This helps prevent spalling and flaking traditionally seen in CCO applications.

We offer many grades, including Complex Carbide and Tungsten. CCO is ideal for low impact, heavy wear areas in buckets, truck boxes, chutes, and hoppers.
