About G65 Testing

This standardized test procedure defined by ASTM G65-04 offers a broad spectrum of materials to test because of the many normalized modifications. Sand is put into the friction contact of a rotating disc and the specimen. The specimen is pressed against the rubberized wheel by a lever arm with a defined normal force, pic. 01. The wheel rotates with a given rotary speed. The named modifications of this test are variations in pressing force and wear distance. The mass flow of the sand can be adjusted within a tolerance of ±5 g/min. The sand flow rate stays constant for the different variations.
